Ester Machado

Dance Artist & Cultural Producer

Ester (Teca) is a Brazilian dance artist and cultural producer. Her work focuses on artistic processes that explore decolonial practices of resistance and freedom. She is interested in awakening a utopian body within its relative space-time through research, performance, and multidisciplinary approaches. Ester actively collaborates on productions and independent projects around the world, continually developing her artistic language through dynamic exchanges and diverse experiences with various artistic collectives.

“I am moved by fire, I ground myself in the earth, I need water for constant transformation, and I find freedom in the air to fly. Even though my sun is in a fire element, I am deeply connected to the earth—grounding and landing, giving ground to my feet, trusting the flow while keeping my feet firmly planted.

For me, there is no life without constant movement and practice. There is no dance without feet on the ground. My dance practice is inspired by the dynamic balance of elements and sensations, exploring how, as bodies, we can adapt with resilience amid the chaos of contemporary life.”
